our beliefs

God

God exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all life and declared his creation to be good. (Genesis 1:1, 26-27, 31; Deuteronomy 6:4; Job 38:1-41:34; Matthew 3:13-17; John 3:16; Ephesians 4:6)

Bible

The Bible is the true and authoritative library of writings that are both divinely inspired and humanly penned, that together tell a unified story leading us to Jesus. It is the authority or standard for all matters of faith and living, interpreted in the light of the embodied Word (Jesus). (Psalm 19:7-11; Psalm 119:105, 160; John 1:14; John 17:17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

Jesus

Jesus is fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life, taught about the kingdom of God, died on the cross for the sins of the world, was raised from the dead by the power of the Spirit, and lives today at the right hand of the Father. Jesus promised to return one day to usher in his final and perfect kingdom on earth. On that day he will judge the living and the dead. (Matthew 1:22-23; John 1:1,14,18; Acts 10:37-43; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 1:15-21; Hebrews 1:1-3)

Salvation

All humans need salvation because all have sinned. Sin separates us from God who desires relationship with us all. It is impossible for any human to restore that broken relationship with God on their own. Salvation is not earned, merited, or achieved by any amount of personal goodness, religious deeds, or by belonging to a church. We are saved by grace through faith in what Jesus accomplished through his death, burial, and resurrection. We receive the gift of salvation by repenting of our sins, believing that Jesus is the Son of God, and being immersed (baptized in water) into his death, burial, and resurrection. (Isaiah 59:2; John 3:16; John 14:6; Acts 2:37-39; Romans 3:10, 11, 23; Romans 6:3-4; Romans 6:23; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Ephesians 2:1-10; Titus 3:3-8)

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit dwells inside each member of God’s family helping them become like Jesus. He is a helper, guide, and the one who gifts the Church to accomplish Jesus’ purposes in the world. (John 14:16-17; John 16:7-13; Acts 2:38; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Ephesians 3:16-20; Ephesians 5:18; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Galatians 5:19-25; Romans 8:13,14)

Church

The body of Christ, and the spiritual unity of the believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. The Church is not a building or one particular group of believers. To belong to the Church, is to belong to Jesus. Everything we do as the church we do in pursuit of Jesus’ agenda to reconcile the world to Himself. (Matthew 16:15-18; John 17:20-23; John 13:34-35; Acts 2:42-47; Ephesians 1:22-23; Ephesians 2:19-22; 1 Peter 2:4-10; II Corinthians 5:19-20)
