tom martinYou don’t normally think of a minister as having a degree in art (Bachelor of Science in Art – Pottery & Art History / Harding College 1975) or to have an office decked out with a St. Louis Cardinal collection complete with a pair of seats from Busch Stadium. However, that is Tom Martin.

Tom serves as the Pastoral Minister for the DC Family. He is available to provide shepherding care, spiritual guidance and counseling to DC members and those in the community. He also serves as a shepherd for the DC Family. Tom fell in love with working and serving kids while a counselor at Camp Wyldewood. That is where he met DeeAnn, his partner in life and ministry. They married August 29, 1974. Together, they served at Camp Wyldewood while also helping to start the youth group at the newly formed Cloverdale church of Christ in 1976. They served there from that date until June 1, 2006, when God moved them to Downtown for Tom to serve as Body Life Minister.

Tom also serves as Chaplain for the Searcy Fire Department to assist the department and the community with responses to structure fires, motor vehicle accidents, counseling and critical incident stress debriefing, and whatever the need may be. He is a retired firefighter and fire chief from the Center Hill Fire Department, and held past certification as an Emergency Medical Technician. Tom & DeeAnn, who after 33 years as an advanced practice pediatric cardiology nurse at Arkansas Children’s Hospital is now teaching in the Carr College of Nursing at Harding University, have lived in Searcy since their Harding College days. They have two daughters, Allison Simmons w/ her sons, Jon Thomas, Isaac and Luke, live in Searcy and Caroline (Brian) Cormack w/ their son, Jonah, live in Little Rock . Tom & DeeAnn continue to work extensively with mission / medical mission programs in Haiti and the Dominican Republic thru Manna Global Ministries and the Haitian Christian Development Project.
